Supporting Acceptance For Everyone – S.A.F.E.

S.A.F.E. is a registry of consumer establishments that pledge to honor and promote the principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The program’s mission is to intentionally seek out and amplify regional businesses and organizations that value and practice diversity and inclusion in their establishment, so that marginalized persons and their allies can make purposeful choices that align with their values and keep them safe, while showing solidarity to the local community and highlighting businesses and organizations committed to pledging to support positive change.

Here’s what we do

In order to amplify businesses and organizations that are Supporting Acceptance For Everyone (S.A.F.E.), we ask business owners and organization leaders to register here on our website. Once a business or organization has registered, they are contacted and asked to take the S.A.F.E. Pledge to uphold principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. After the business owner or organization leader takes the Pledge, they then receive a S.A.F.E. decal to display in their storefront and a digital marketing toolkit to share the good news.

What’s the pledge about?

Taking the SAFE (Supporting Acceptance for Everyone) Pledge is a commitment to creating more diverse, equitable, inclusive workplaces — for workers and consumers alike. Read the full pledge below:

As a SAFE Business or Organization, I pledge to:

Work intentionally to create a safe, welcoming environment for ALL people, regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, cognitive and/or physical abilities, and belief systems
Enforce zero tolerance in regard to bullying, harassment, hate speech, or other inappropriate behavior within my establishment and in my digital sphere of influence
Take meaningful actions to hire diverse people (if applicable) and show representation of diverse people in images in my outreach via digital, social, and traditional media
Learn more about the diverse experiences and perspectives of others, even if it’s uncomfortable, in order to be more inclusive, build trust, and foster community connections
Engage in educational opportunities offered by the DEI Alliance to strive to continuously implement practical diversity, equity, and inclusion tools and strategies.

How are businesses and organizations held accountable?
